The fourth National Undergraduate Emergency Conference was held at the University of Glasgow on Saturday 1st November 2014.
Following the successes of the previous three conferences organised by previous committees, this year’s conference had a one-day format featuring a wide range of lectures from experts in Emergency Medicine, a poster presentation and comprehensive clinical skills teaching.
Now in its fourth year, the National Undergraduate Emergency Medicine Conference (NUEC) continued to educate students in different areas of Emergency Medicine, and provide comprehensive clinical skills teaching often missed out on in undergraduate training. The event also provides a networking opportunity and an chance to present posters.
The day-long conference was organised by Glasgow University Emergency Society, and was held at the Wolfson Medical School Building at the University of Glasgow on the 1st of November.
Lectures included talks on Pre-hospital Medicine from the chair of the Faculty of Pre-hospital care, medical services at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games from it’s deputy chief medical officer, working in paediatric A&E from an experienced consultant, among several others.
Clinical skill teaching included elements from Advanced Life Support, as well as nasogastric tube insertion, catheterisation and suturing.
